Riccardo Silano
artist designer media archaeologist
Riccardo Silano (b. 1982, Novi Ligure, Italy) is an artist, designer and media archaeologist. His art is born from treating all technology, from analog hardware to generative AI, as black boxes to be creatively rerouted. The result is an act of witness, capturing the technological ghosts that emerge from the tension between repetition and change, just before they vanish.
Silano's professional path evolved through theatre, commercial audiovisual production and broadcasting. In 2019 he started rewiring retro gears not just into video art installations, but into a method for tuning into the machine's own operative unconscious. This practice guided him directly to generative AI, which he approaches not as a tool, but as an unpredictable system to be patched in unconventional ways, revealing its hidden behaviors.
Riccardo Silano is represented in Switzerland by STORIES.
